About Hope of WS
H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem envisions a world where all children and families have access to nutritious food for their families and improved health outcomes over the course of their lives.
H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem works at the intersection of children’s health and food insecurity. We execute weekend distributions of nutritious meals for children and fresh fruits and vegetables for families struggling with food insecurity. We also address health and food insecurity issues through our Food and Health Education initiatives and engage with the food ecosystem in and around Forsyth County.
About Bookmarks
Bookmarks is a literary arts nonprofit that cultivates community by bringing people of all ages together with books and authors who educate, inspire, challenge, and entertain.
We imagine a community where the power of the book brings forth connection and belonging for every person.
Bookmarks’ bookstore was designed and constructed in order to meet the need for an independent bookstore in downtown Winston-Salem and a space to host community events. The bookstore opened its doors in July of 2017 with 4,200 square feet of space, including a stage, a conference room, offices, and mobile bookshelves that allow for an easy transformation into a community gathering space. Bookmarks hosts more than 15 community events each month.
All bookstore profits support Bookmarks’ nonprofit outreach programs, and each time you round up at the register, you are helping us connect members of our community with books and authors.
Book selections include a wide range of topics and authors, including YA, sci-fi/fantasy, general fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, mystery/thriller, cookbooks, travel books, and regional books. Bookmarks has something for everyone—stop by today to find your next adventure or shop online.
