  • 2 tablespoons oil or butter
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 10 cups water
  • 6 cups or one large head cabbage chopped
  • 4 cups diced peeled potatoes
  • 3 boullion cubes (chicken or vegetable)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground garlic
  • 4 cups of cubed ham (optional)

In a large saucepan sauté onion until tender in the oil or butter. Add the water, cabbage, potatoes, boullion cubes, pepper and garlic. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the potatoes are tender. You can puree if you want or add the ham (if you have) and just serve!
