When this church talks about God’s love in action, they aren’t just talking. Every Saturday, members pick up fixings from H.O.P.E. to make 350 meals and then assemble them and distribute 55 at apartments and a trailer park where families are in need. The rest are brought back to be taken out on Sunday on the H.O.P.E. truck. Pastor Otis appears rain, shine or snow. Carl Beatty has been mentoring kids at Cleveland Avenue and Piedmont Circle for several years, and can make any child laugh and feel special. Michelle Martinez just got the MLK Young Dreamers Award from the city for her dedication and work at H.O.P.E. Carson, Carl’s son, works on Fridays and Saturdays to make sure everything is in place for the weekend’s packing and delivery. These are just a few of the wonderful people at Hope Community Church who want to bring joy as well as good food to children in need!
